Transfer 3 Week 6 in Leon:

Well this week has been really awesome!

I don't know what else to say.. Well, I guess Merry Christmas!!!

MARTES:

So we did some carpeta work. So we have an area book, which is records of all of the references we receive, and all of the lessons that we teach. So the church came out with an app called, "Area Book Planner" which is just the whole area book, and our agenda put into an app, so the we can use our tablets, instead of all of this paper, and our tablets. So we have been slowly moving over every single record from our paper area book to our tablets, but it just takes forever. So yeah we worked on that for awhile. Then we passed by some people, and then had English class, and noche de jas. So for noche de jas, we talked about testimonies, and how we can build them, and then we invited them to write their testimonies in a BOM, so that they have a special connection with the people who have their book. Then when we had it out, they have to pray for that person. It was really cool. 

MIERCOLES:

So we went and passed by some people then went and saw Carmen in the hospital. She is doing much better, but is still recovering. Then we went out contacting with Lucy, which was super fun, and met this awesome guy named Justo. So we gave him a BOM, but i really loved him because I'm at leas 89% sure that he was Santa Clause. He had it all, the beard, the hair, the laugh. It was Him..

JUEVES:

So We passed by Maria Dolores, and she is doing good as well. We taught her a very short and Sweet lesson about the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost, and Enduring to th end. These are the steps that we must take to follow Jesus Christ. These are the things that, as we do them, will help us to find lasting and true joy in this life and eternal life in the next. Then we did some pass bys, and then we got on the bus to Gijon. 

VIERNES:

So we did intercambios with the hermans of gijon, who are HNA MAZA, and HNA NIELSON. They are really amazing. So i was with Hna Maza in the morning, and then after medio dia, we switched. So with her we two lessons. One with this guys named Pablo who is really great. Then the other one was some lady that we found on the street named Maria Isabel,and her dog. It was cool, and the just taught her on a bench in some random park. Then we ended up handing out 8 BOM's just in between. Then I was with Hna Nielson, and we taught this really sweet girl named Amanda, who is from Brazil. Then all of the missionaries,and elders met up in the center, and Elder Walker and i sang, with him playing the Ukulele while the others spread out and talked to a bunch of people. IT was a BLAST! Then we got on the bus back home to Leon.

SABADO:

So Christmas EVE... So we had correlation with our mission leader. Which was really fun. He always says 10:30, but is never there until 11. It's hilarious. So then we had this cool activity with all of the young women, where we showed them how to make cookies and brownies, etc. Then we had pizza, and danced a little, and did some braiding, and other girly stuff like that. It was awesome. Then afterward we passed by this lady's house name Ines. She is Dominican and is just the sweetest lady that you could ever meet. So we went there, and she fed us sooooooooooooooooo much food, that i couldn't walk. Then we talked about god, and Jesus Christ , and our relationship with them. It was really great. Then we had choir practice, because we were going to sing a musical number on sunday. Then English class. Also we found out that i will be staying another transfer here in Leon so i wont leave until the 1 week of February. But sadly elder gearing is going to Sol, or Barrio 5, where they have all of the cool touristy stuff in Madrid. Then for dinner we went to maria Dolores, and talked with her, and her grand kids until it was time to go home. She gave us hankerchiefts. It was really tender.

DOMINGO:

OH Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree.. So we had church, and then we went to the hospital, and sang for a few old people who were alone on Christmas, and then we went home and ate, and made no bake cookies. After wards we did more carpeta work, an then went to the capilla to Skye our families, which was awesome! I really do love them a lot.  Then after that we went to the familia Rivera's house, and shared Christmas dinner with them. It was awesome, and i definitely cried like 3 times because of how sweet they are! They also gave us gifts. I got a necklace, and some earrings. 

LUNES:

So today we cleaned, but we couldn't go grocery shopping because everything is closed, except the mall so we went there with the elders. So I went and bough like 5 shirts, and a skirt, and 2 cardies, and a pair of shoes. Then we ate Chinese buffet, which tasted really good, but was definitely a poor decision. Like always.  And now I'm writing you guys.

Well i have had a very very nice Christmas, and i hope that you all have too! Well i love you all very much, and i will talk to you next year.!!!

Transfer 3 Week 5 Leon

Hello!

It's been so long, I've missed y'all!

Okay so this week we went and did intercambios (Exchanges) which is where you switch companions for the day, which i kind of fun. So we do our intercambios in Madrid. Let me clarify, Madrid Madrid, It's called Cuatro Camino's, which shares the center of Madrid with the super touristy part called "Sol", which is where all of the cool stuff is. For example: The prado museum, Park retiro, The palacio madrid, Plaza Mayor, Just for starters.. Any how, that was pretty cool. Also this week we had our ward Christmas party which was way fun, and i went to a zapateria, Which is a place to get your shoes fixed; because the two pairs of shoes that i wear the most we destroyed, and the shoes were falling off, and he had holes in the bottom. I was so proud, but i got the fixed, and it only cos 18 euros! Score...

LUNES:

So We had a money lesson with not only Maribel but her whole family, which was amazing. The spirit was super strong, and it was cool to teach the dad, Moises because he had a lot of really great insights. Any way so things are progressing on that front. Before that though we made pizza, from scratch..I know, I know. They actually turned out really good, so that was super cool, and then we went to the capilla and wrote y'all.

MARTES:

So we visited Hermana Carmen in the hospital. She is still recovering slowly from the car wreck, but Martes was her B-day, so we bought her a stuffed animal (peluche) and talked to her for a little while. So in her same hospital room there was another lady who was old too. So Here in Spain every single old person has someone who takes care of them. So basically almost all of our members do this, the lady's at least. So the girl who was taking care of this other lady was named Alma. So I'm not sure if she saw the skirts, or the chiapa (Name tag), but we stated talking to her and she said that her brother had gotten baptized a few years ago, and is always hanging out with the missionaries, but lives in Madrid. So we asked for his name to see if we knew him, so she endde up showing us pictures and stuff. So we were talking to her, and she is like super awesome, and was taking the lessons form the missionaries, but then had to move to Leon from Madrid, so she stopped. Anyway we got her number. So when we did intercambios in Madrid like 2 days later, who did we see? Javier, her brother, and took pictures with him, and stuff. The lord is funny like that! Then we had a lesson with a church reference, which is when someone goes online and request a Book of Mormon, or whatever and the missionaries visit them. So we passed by, and is was this super Spanish couple, named Jose and ludy. They were super cute, and were just interested in learning about other churches, so we told them our beliefs, and it was really fun! We are going to try to meet with them but they said they are just interested in learning, not so much in changing, but that's a pretty common answer. That is just what people say to a couple of kids sitting on the couch, telling them about Jesus. The thing is, they don't know that, that was the most important conversation that they have ever had. I don't know many things but i do know that the gospel changes lives whether or not people want to believe it. They will come around. Then we had Noche de Jas, which was cool, because we decorated the capilla for Christmas. We didn't get much done, but we made a lot of snowflakes, angels, etc..

MIERCOLES:

So we Had District meeting, which was a blast. We did 3 Practices to help us not be so awkward, which we needed because let me tell you; Stopping random people in the street it a little awkward, especially if your a missionary. So, the practices were really great. Then afterward we played uno, and I won 3 times... So I'm improving. Then we went and passed by Fanny, who is a member from the Dominican republic. We made cakes for the Christmas party, and she made us a cake too! ScoreXtwo. Then after that we visited Rosbit who is also a member who live on our street, and I told her that I could leave after Navidad, and she gave me a German flag, and told me "So you can always remember me, by the flag of my country." Super cute except that she is definitely from Peru, as well as her whole family, but it was still cute. 

JUEVES:

So we had intercambios, and left early in the morning, and slept on the train. When we got there, it was raining. Every single time i have gone to Madrid for intercambios, it has been raining. But i was prepared this time with my paraguas (umbrella). So we passed by lots of memebrs, and amigos, and then went to the capilla in 4 camino's. Then a bunch of missionaries from Madrid went to go sing in Sol, in the Metro stop called "OPERA" which was way fun. Guess who i found there? HNA Christensen, Snyder, and of course my current companion Mendoza. So We took a picture. It was fun to see them all again. Then we sang a bunch of songs, and my voice hurt. 

VIERNES:

So we got on the train yet again, and made a ton of snowflakes, stars, angles, lo que sea. Then we slept. So when we got to Leon, we went to the mercadona (Market) and bought all of the stuff to make deserts (Does that has one or two S's?). So we were in there, when a miracle occurred. I found brown sugar (panela)  like the real Mckoy! They don't have that her, so the lord blessed me, so that i could make normal Chocolate chip cookies. It was amazing. So yeah, we made those, no bake cookies, and then Brownies for the Christmas party. Then we went to set up the capilla, and actually decorate it and all that jazz. Then we had the party. So i was asked to sing a special musical number, which i sang Silent night in Spanish and English, which they really liked, but i messed up a few times the English part, but I'm pretty sure they didn't notice:)  Yep and then we ate way too much food. 

SABADO:

Not much happened, we walked around, and ended up finding two awesome people, and gave them LDM, and got their numbers. Then we had english class, and one of our friends named susannah brought us hot chocolate from her trip to London. She is so sweet and thoughtful! Also i almost cried because she brought us Chocolate orange hot chocolate, which was awesome because when i was at home, on Christmas there are a few books that we read as a family every year, one of them being "The Christmas Orange" and sometimes we find chocolate oranges in our stocking from Santa, so it was a flash back that was cool. 

DOMINGO:

So church was amazing. So in sacrament meeting, Kalifa got confirmed as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. It was awesome. Then During second and third hour, we talked with our Branch president, Presidente Martinez. We talked about the goals for this year, and what we can do to accomplish them, and it was really awesome. Then we passed by some people, and finally found a member named Yancy! I have been here for 5 and a half months and only just no met her, and she was super sweet! So that was an awesome miracle. Then we had the Rivera's. Which was fun as always. Yep that was my week. Well i love you guys a freggin ton, ad hope that you have a very merry Christmas! Be safe!

Transfer 3 Week 3 Leon:

Hello!

So as i am writing this, we are currently waiting at a bus stop in Leon, by the Plaza de Toro's (Where they do the bull fights). Oh, Spain... Well this week has been awesome. I dont' know if i can say anything else. I already talked about Monday, And nothing eventful happened after we wrote so..I will start with Tuesday!

MARTES:

Allison Mendoza (HNA Mendoza) Cumpled (Turned) 20 Years old! We made pancakes to celebrate. They didn't really turn out that great but with enough nutella anything tastes good. Then we saw Sandra, in her store. It was way fun as always but we were only there for a few minutes because a bunch of people walked in, and i's just kid of awkward because you don't really know where and stand and what not. Then we went to Trobajo del Camino, which is just right outside of Leon, and did some contacting and stuff there! We passed by the churreria where I thought i lost my wallet, but they didn't have it. No biggy. I can get a new auto zone card at home, Right? Then we had a lesson with Maribel! So we called our mission leaders wife, Narcissa, and she came with us to the lesson because her and Maribel are friends. I went really good. Narcissa really helped out a lot, and the spirit was very strong. Then we had English class, and Noche de Jas, Which we great as usual. I met my first Cuban! He Doesn't smoke, or even like cigars.. My whole view of cuba is now different. He came to the English class, and talked with us. So that was cool. Oh i also leaned a new word. Cutre: Lame. So i have been using that one pretty regularly now.

MIERCOLES:

SO we passed by Maria Dolores just to see how she was doing, as we were on our way to the bus station. She was doing great. She calls us her Little girls! It is so tender. Then she asked us if she should talk to us in Tu or in Usted. So in Spanish there are two forms of speech. So tu is for people you are close to, like your Friends, or your peers, or little kids, and dog. Here Everyone speaks in Tu, for the most part because were in Spain, which is like speaking to everyone like friends, or family, which is kind of cool. So Usted form is used for more formal things, to show respect, or you speak to someone in this form if you don't know them. For example: I would speak to the King of Spain in usted, but his mom would speak to him in Tu. So Maria Dolores is from Spain, and is like 80 years old, and asked us if she should talk to us in usted, to show respect.. Crazy, we told her "Que Va" or in other words, "NO way Jose."  It was cool. So then we went and caught our bus to La Baneza. So we have been teaching this girl there named Barbara, but I call her barb. She is 17, almost 18, and is awesome! So we had a lesson with her, and it was amazing, and now she has a baptisma date for the 7th of January. Sure its next year, but I think I could wait that long! She seriously is so prepared, and willing to follow the savior in any way that she can, it's Money.. So after that, we went to this little pasteleria, which is like a bakery. So La Baneza is famous for these Sweets call Imperiales.I'm still not sure what they are, but we went to this store to buy some. So we picked hat we wanted, and then the Cashier lady gave them to us for free! It was awesome, so in return we gave her a Book of Mormon. 

JUEVES:

So w planned for the week! So while we were planning we felt like should call Raquel, one of our members who is inactive because she lives in a pueblo like 2 hours away. So we have wanted to go visit her, but it's hard because just to visit her, it takes a whole day. So we called her, and by happen chance she just happened to be in Leon, and wanted to meet. So we set up a lesson for the evening. So After planning, We put on work clothes because Ruben asked us to help out with a service project. It was cool because i got to wear jeans and a T-shirt. I felt super weird. I felt like i wasn't a missionary. Crazy. Still was awesome though. So then we ran back home and changed into our skirts of power, ad had a really great lesson with Raquel!

VIERNES:

So we caught a bus to Astorga! It was super fly. We contacted the whole day and only talked to like 4 people, but it was still really fun. So we passed by this Carniceria, which is a butcher shop, and they had like 10 whole pigs just hanging inside the shop. It was crazy. Only in Spain. Oh, and i finally saw the Toro, or the giant metal bulls that they put on the hills and bluffs and such. It was Giant and awesome. We were like 10 Km, and we cold see it on the hill.  Then of course, as per tradition we bought Astorga chocolate, which is the best in the whole world. Then when we returned to Leon, we found 2 Super cool, awesome people, and got there numbers. So the one guy was from Cape verde, and is here studying and learning Spanish. So he speaks french, but not Spanish. So we were talking to him in Spanish, but he was answering in french. I understood what he was saying, like everything. So I figured it was a fluke, or maybe he was speaking Frenish, but then it happened again, and we contacted this couple from francia, that didn't know Spanish but i understood them! It was insane. Anyway, the fist guys name is Levy, and we will have  lesson with him soon, but we want him to meet Khalifa, who is the elders friend. Speaking of which, he Just had his baptismal interview, and is getting baptized next Sunday! It will be awesome. 

SABADO:

So we passed by our friend Jose's house, but he wasn't home but then we ran into him in the street and talked to him for a few minutes. Then we went by Fanny's house. She is a member, and is from the Dominican republic. There are a ton of Dominicans here. It's Ridiculous. In fact, the center of Leon, with all of the stores, and buses is called Santo Domingo. So we went to her house, and she was packing this box with food, and specialty items form Spain to send to her mom in the DR. So essentially she was playing the most ridiculous game of tetris that i have ever seen. It was hilarious. Then we walked her hija to her friends house because she was scared to walk alone, so that was cool. Them we met another cool Dominican in the street, ad talked to her for awhile. So we always ask if the are a creyente person or a person who believes in god. So we didn't ask her that because her name was genesis. 

DOMINGO:

So we had church. It was super good. Then we had a really awesome lesson with Lesly. She was in Norway for 3 weeks, but she got back a few days ago. She is doing really good! It's crazy how prepared the lord makes people. They don't even know it! Then we went to the familia Rivera which was awesome as always!

Transfer 3 Week 2 In Leon Spain:

So this week has been money! I ate churros, from a churreria; Lost my WALLET; And had turkey!

MARTES:

Okay! So Tuesday we had set up 2 solid appointments, that we then confirmed, but they both failed us. The good news is that even though they failed us, they gave us the right address, and number, so I have a hard time believing that if they weren't interested even a little bit, why would they give us their correct number and address. I would have lied. So I have hope!
Now I know what it is like to be one the other side. You know, like those people who try to sell you the lotion, or straighteners in the mall, and you have to say no to them like 4 times before they stop following you? Yep, I know how they feel now. Okay, enough of that.. So we visited one of our JAS, which just means a Young person (Joven) named Estefannie. We just talked in her door way but it was nice to finally talk to her. I had only met her 2x, for the street, so we didn't get to talk much. It was cool. Then we had English class, and they were super good like normal. So when I was looking for my keys to open the Capilla for English class, that is when i discovered that my wallet was gone. No worries, I only had my church debit card, and Spain residency card, and my Drivers license from the states that was going to go out of date anyhow. It is all canceled, and is being replaced now. I still have my passport, SSN, and my Credit card, so I am set. I am a little bummed out though because i lost my auto zone card.. I had so many points saved up...Oh and our Elders' Gearing and Reese came back from Madrid, and brought all of the packages and letters for all of the missionaries, so i got all of my letters! Thanks!

MIERCOLES:

We went to La Baneza! We have like 3 solid investigators in this little pueblo, one named Barbara who is from The Dominican Republic. She is like 17 i think, and is sup's cool. So we normally meet with her one Wednesday's , but she called for the morning, and told us that she couldn't do it today, but we decided to go anyway, and try to find, and teach, and teach, and find. We met 2 really awesome people, that we are really excited about! Oh okay, so Elder Gearing told us this story awhile back about when they were walking, and it was cold, and he said, "Man, a *Colacao sounds awesome." Then the very next person they talked to offered them Colacao... So this has happened 9 times since the first time. Do you know how many times this has happened to us? ZERO..   But still have push forward with faith. So we were walking in La Baneza, on the way to the bus station home, and found a brand new, sealed bow of chocolates in the middle of the road. We picked it up and inspected it meticulously and then ate. It was awesome! The lord Answers prayers  for chocolate, hot or cold. 

JUEVES:

So today we had Zone Training!  So yesterday the elders called us, and asked us if we could prepare a practise, or role pay for the ZC, that would be tomorrow. We said yes, and then immediately regretted it. But no, It went really great and I learned a mountain. (Bad Spanish joke, Because for "a lot", they say, "un monton", like i learned a mountain... Ha)

So after that, we ate as a Zone. We ate Kebab chicken, which was super tasty, and then we played games and stuff. After that we had a Lesson with Maribel that was really good. Then We went back to the Capilla, because our member, Angel, decided to make us a thanksgiving feast which turned out super good. I know you were all wondering, but the stuffing turned out pretty tasty. Not like stove top, but i figure they have never had it and won't know the difference. So as per tradition, and i think it might be a requirement for citizenship in the untied states, we ate turkey on thanksgiving.

VIERNES:

So we had correlation with Pedro, and planned the Christmas dinner, which i think is going to go awesome. Halloween was pretty risky last time, but i think that Christmas is a little more widely accepted here. So were praying that it all salir's (ends up) good.
Then we had Weekly planning. Also the New Christmas campaign came out today. #ILUMINAelMUNDO or #LIGHTtheWORLD. So they challenge is 25 ways in 25 days. So when Christ was on the earth, he was always serving. So we have the opportunity to emulate him through serving other in the 25 days leading up to Navidad. Do it.. Also watch the video, it is really awesome. Oh and my comp made arepas and we put hot dogs, and cheese in them and they turned out amazing!

SABADO:

We went to La Palomera, which if I'm correct means: Place with a lot of pigeons. So you can imagine how that was. So La Palomera is just like a part of leon that e hardly ever go to, probably because of all the pigeons. It's is just really far away, but the lord blessed us greatly in our efforts with 3 Referrals. Like real referrals?  Then we had  lesson with MD (Maria- Dolores) which was awesome, and invited her to come to church with us. She said yes! So then we had English class which was super fun, and i found out that Fidel Castro died.. Learn something new everyday..

DOMINGO:

MD came to church with us, in fact we met her on the way to her house. She was already coming by herself, How cool is that! She wore a fur coat.. The branch was super warm and welcoming, and they talked super Spanish, with their crazy accent.. It was super cool. Then we had a lesson with Tantika, who is from Romania. I really don't think she understand my vampire jokes, but that doesn't stop me. Then we had another lesson with Pamela, which went okay. Her baby seriously is gigantic though, and look like a little Eskimo!

LUNES:

And here we are. Well we cleaned, and grocery shopped, and ate, and went to El Corte Ingles, which is the mall, and walked around, and tried on some stuff. IT was fun, i felt like i was in High school again. And then after P-day we are going to visit Carmen in the hospital, and she how she is doing. She was one of the members who had that accident but i think she finally had her surgery today. Well ya esta.

Letter to Dad
11-21-16

Well the meeting the we were going to go to right before the accident was ward council, so the lord really does answer prayer, and even though we didn't have it, maybe we will have it next week. So i have really high hopes that we will have 3 people with baptism dates by the end of the week! Paula, Barbara, and Maribel! So i am really praying for a baptism this transfer. My Spanish is definitely getting better here, with my comp. I feel pretty fluent for the most part. I can pretty much express my self, and say what i want to say, and understand everything that is said to me, and can read my scriptures, and do all of my studies in Spanish with out to much difficulty, so that lord is really blessing me with the gift of tongues. Now i just need to learn how to teach. I feel like the whole time in my mission up until now has been pretty much just learning the language, but now that i can say what i want, i don't know what to say. But my companion is an amazing teacher, and i m learning a lot from her!.   Well I love you, and i would love some advice and teaching, and life nd all that good stuff. Love you, nd Happy thanksgiving

Transfer 3 Week 1 in Leon
New Companion Hermana Mendoza from Bolivia

Well, My new companion is awesome, and her name is HNA Mendoza. She is from La paz, Bolivia. She is a really amazing missionary, and i am going to learn, and am currently learning  lot from her.Well this week as always was really awesome, and i learned a lot of Spanish too.

LUNES:

So HNA Snyder went to Carabanchel, which is in the Ghetto of Madrid, so i was really excited for her. She is from Syracuse, Utah; and is white and blonde. I'm way excited for her. So she left about lunchtime, and so the HNA's from GIjon came down and we with me until my companion came at 5pm. It was my first trio!!! We went to Domino's, all you can eat buffet. Surprisingly enough, people in Spain really like jamon, tuna, and BBQ sauce so if the pizza didn't have Jamon, or some form of tuna, it had BBQ. But that didn't stop me, I ate like 8 pieces or something crazy. It was awesome! Then my companion llegared ( arrived), and we made the trek back to the piso from the train station. I kept assuring her that it was only 5 minutes more, but i think she caught on when it took 45 minutes.. It just takes forever with suitcases, because most of the sidewalks and walk way are cobblestone, so the little wheels get stuck. Then we had a lesson with Paula, who we had not met with for like 1 and 1\2 months. So miracle there. It went good, and we are supposed to meet with her again soon.

MARTES:

So when your companions leaves, and you get a new companions who is not familiar with the area, and doesn't know any of he people, it is called Area Training. So that is what i am doing right now. It's really fun, and we get lost a lot, but also it's like really stressful, because you want your companion to know everybody, but they don't and s you hve to decide where to go, and who to see, based on what you feel, and where they live, and how much time we have. I can testify, that the lord helps his missionaries. So first we had a lesson with Hortensia, which went well. Then Out of nowhere Tony, our old investigator called us and told us that he was in leon for the day, from Madrid, where he had moved about 1 month ago. He was giving some English classes, and asked if we could meet with him. Now he is the guy we were teaching awhile back, who is from Nigeria, who speaks English. It went really good, nd he was looking for a piso so that he can move back to Leon, and keep meeting with. It was crazy, but i felt bad that my companion had to teach a lesson right of the bat in English, but she speaks like really amazing English, and so she took it like a champ. Then we met with Pamela, Which is pronounced like (pa- MEla). Now it can;t say it normally in English, but i will take that as progress! Then we walked around for little, and then had a really good lesson with Thalia. So we had 4 lessons, and gave away 3 Book of Mormons, and got like 6 references. It was a miracle and crazy!

MIERCOLES:

So we went by Sandra first thing in the morning, and chatted with her for a minute, and then shared this cool Christmas video. She liked it, and then as we were talking, she told us about this Special Christmas that is like from Leon, and some little pueblos around here. It is really cool. Maria-Dolores has one, so look it up because it's interesting. It looks kind of like one of those Hanukkah lamp tings, but wooden, and you put ornaments and whatever you want on it. We are totally getting one for the piso! Then after that we had District meeting, with our new elder. He is called Elder Baerwalt, and he is from Cali. It was really good, DM, and then right after we ran to the bus station and caught our bus for La Baneza. We just barely made it 15 minutes early.. I hate being Late to things, especially in the mission. So when we got there, we had two lesson set up. The first was with Barbara, who I had talked to on the phone to set up the cita. So we get there, and we met in the Plaza Mayor (I swear very place in Spain has a Plaza Mayor). When i had talked to her on the phone, she sounded a lot older, and when we met her in person she told u tht she was 17, which i didn't believe. But she is really cute. So then she told us that she wanted to meet with her friend because she was Mormon, so we ran by and got her friend, named angeli, and had a lesson. So Angeli is a member and was super active forever, and is 18, but then her mom and her moved to La Baneza, and the capilla is far away. But she is seriously super sweet, and really helped us out a lot in the lesson. So her mom is isabel, who is on our list, but according to the Ward list she is only supposed to have one daughter, but i gues she has 2! So it went really good. Then we went looking for the other lady name Simoni's house. We found it but had to run to the bus station, so we just talked with her for  few minutes and then got out of dodge.

JUEVES:

We had daily planning, which was really good. Then we had a lesson with fanny, a Member, and it went relly well. We showed to video of the man of the cruise who brought beans an crackers, and didn't leave his room, and liken that to ourselves, an how sometimes we are like that man, and live far beneath our potential. It was super good. Then we had  Family home evening with Thalia, and her family, with the Elders. It went really good.

VIERNES:

So We went by and saw Maria Dolores, which was awesome as usual, and she is just like my 4th grandma. You guys would love her! So because of my new comp, she had to show us every photo that she has of her family, and the story behind them. It was cute. Then we were supposed to have lesson with a New investigator, and were looking for her address. She live in the hardest place to find ever. It took us like 1 hour just to find her piso, but we did, and she wasn't home, but we can pass by later. Then We had a lesson with Maribel, and it was really good, and we invited her to choose  a date herself for her baptism, so she is supposed to tell us soon. Then We had Noche De rama, and Angel, our member brought hot dogs for us. So everyone in Europe thinks that all that Americans eat is Hot dog's and hamburgers. Which is guess is kind of true. It's funny. 

$$$  So Angel asked me to Make Thanksgiving stuffing, but i don't have a clue how to do it, so if you have a recipe, that is easy, and cheap, and does not involve stouffers stuffing, then please send it my way!

SABADO:

So i contacted this Spanish guy the other day, and set up an appointment to visit him, and got his address and all that, and so we were supposed to meet with him, and we found his piso, and he told u that he had gotten called into to work, but that we could come by next tuesday, but he said that he would love to have us meet with his whole family. Spanish don't normally do that. They normally tell you straight up, that they don't want to talk to you, or just give you the Spanish finger wag, but this guy, and his family is really interested. So I'm pretty excited. Then we had lesson with a lady named milagros, but my comp has his sickness or something where she has to put and ITO, or ITA on the end of everything, so in stead of milagros, it was milagritos, and the whole time we were in the lesson, i was dying every time she said it. It was awesome. Then we had english class, and 8 people came. I taught the advanced class, and it was awesome to speak English. I had been going through withdraws. It's funny to talk with them though because they all have British accents!

DOMINGO:

SO We left the piso early to go to a meeting at church, and we got there, and we there for about 10 minutes when Lucy ran in, crying, and said that Gloria had a car accident. So the elders, and a few members, and president took off running to find them. After about a hour they found them. So Gloria was driving, and it was raining and she saw a car swerving into her lane, and swerved and hi a big tree, and the car wrapped around the tree, and was destroyed. So in the front seat was Carmen, and older member, and she was not wearing a seat belt, and flew into the windshield, and broke the glass, but didn't not fly out of the car. Lucy was also in the crash but was fine, Rebbecca, another older member was fine as well. Carmen, and Gloria went to the hospital. Gloria left with a few bumps and bruises, but Carmen Had a really bad concussion, and has a giant gash on her forehead, and a broken hit that they will operate on Thursday, but she is okay. It was sad, and everyone was really worried for them, but we had church, and then went and visited them in the hospital. If anything good came of this, it was the unity, and love that i saw abounding in between the members. It was amazing the charity i saw as they helped one another, and cried with those that cried.

LUNES:

So We went and visited Carmen with Pedro, and Gloria, and she seems to be in high spirits. Then we went grocery shopping, and went on the hunt for some churros, but all of the stores were closed, so we just ate some Dulce de Leche at home. And now were writing, and later we will have a lesson with some new muchacho named Benigno, and then with Paula.

A scripture that i have been thinking about is in the book of Mormon in Mosiah 5: 2-9..

2 And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.

3 And we, ourselves, also, through the infinite goodness of God, and the manifestations of his Spirit, have great views of that which is to come; and were it expedient, we could prophesy of all things.

4 And it is the faith which we have had on the things which our king has spoken unto us that has brought us to this great knowledge, whereby we do rejoice with such exceedingly great joy.

5 And we are willing to enter into a covenant with our God to do his will, and to be obedient to his commandments in all things that he shall command us, all the remainder of our days, that we may not bring upon ourselves a never-ending torment, as has been spoken by the angel, that we may not drink out of the cup of the wrath of God.

Last week of transfer 2 in Leon:

Well this week was pretty crazy, but amazing. We accomplished a lot of the things that we wanted to, but of course that means that things are about to change. Well I will not keep you in the dark any longer. Hermana Snyder received the call Saturday night that she would be going to Madrid, Barrio 9. In the ghetto... So My new companion is Hermana Mendoza and she is from Bolivia! She just finished training my companion from the MTC, Hermana Christensen which is kind of cool. She speaks a little English... But that just means that I am going to learn, Right?

Monday:

Well for P-day  we made cinnamon rolls, which was a mess. They tasted really good, but our piso was destroyed. So then we spent the rest of P-day cleaning the piso, and emailing. We met a few people that were really interested in the street, and after that we had a money lesson with our friend Pamela. So awhile back we dropped her, or in other words stopped teaching her because she was not fulfilling any of our commitments. We invite or commit people to do things like Pray, or Read the Book of Mormon, or  Come to church because if we do not ask them to do things, and to make little changes, they won't because they don't know how. We ask people to do these things because this is the way that they can know for themselves if this is really true. Anyway so we passed by, and taught her, and she was different person. She had been praying every morning and every night, and I could tell she was happier, and different. It was really cool. 

Tuesday:

We had 3 Lessons today! I know, I know, the lord has been helping us a lot here. They we all really good, and for the last one we had to go to San Andreas which is a pueblo just outside of Leon. Last time we went there, we walked. It took like 2 hours. This time we didn't miss the bus, so we got there in 30 minutes.  We contacted a lot as well, and found 3 really interested people. Then we gave away all of the cinnamon rolls to the members. Bitter sweet you could say. Then we had a Stellar Noche de Jas. It was great day.

Wednesday:

SO we had a really awesome district meeting, it was way fun. Then after that we visited our amiga lesly, and she is doing good. Her and her family are just really sweet, and funny. She always feeds us cookies, and cake, and coke when we are there. It's awesome.  Then we were contacting and found this really awesome lady and chatted her up for about 10 minutes in the street. We gave her a Libro de Mormon and got her number. It's crazy to me how prepared the people we meet are. The lord prepares his people, and it's just cool. 

Thursday:

So we had weekly planning, as always. We had a bunch of plans set up, but they pretty much all fell through. SO we walked around and contacted. Then we had a really great correlation with Pedro. He was sick as a god though so we felt really bad for him. Then when i got home, we made roasted vegetables that we really tasty. Pretty good day.

Friday:

So we went to our friend Sandra's house for Medio-dia. She made this spaghetti stuff that was super delish, and we talked about the Word of wisdom with her, and why we believe in it. She liked the idea a lot. Then after that we went to our friend Maria Dolores. Also here, they really like Lentejas, which are like lentils. It's just weird because i feel like i never have eaten lentils before now. After that we had Noche de rama, and only Lucy came but it was still good. So in the front of the church there is like a metal chain link door that is mechanic and you put your key into it and it goes down or up to lock the capilla. So on our way out, it broke and wouldn't move. The elders, us, and Lucy were waiting and trying to figure out what to do. Then we figured that it was a breaker or something so then we broke into the breaker panel with a ping pong paddle. After that it worked. 

Saturday:

So we had another lesson with Maria-Dolores today, and were ale to meet her grandchildren. They were super cool, and really liked our gringo accents. She made lentils. Also i had the notorious murcia, or blood sausage yet again. We had 6 people come to English class! Can you believe it? It was cool, and they are really funny. Almost ll of the people who come are Spaniards who are attending the school of languages here in leon. I like it because they are just normal people with jobs, and families who wanted to learn English in their spare time, so they are. Then we got the call from the elders about where HNA Snyder was going, and we were with Lesley (members house) and brigit. It was cool. A Lot of crying...

Sunday:

We had church and then we passed by a bunch of people so that HNA Snyder could say bye to them. We got to see Pamela again, who seriously has the cutest baby that i have ever seen. She is super chubby, and has super thick black hair and looks a little bit like an Eskimo. It's cute though. Then we went to the family riveras, and ate tuna. Tuna empandilla, tuna potato salad, then extra tuna if you wanted it too. It was good, but they really like tuna here.

Monday:

SO the hermanas from Gijon are here, and we are in  trio because my companion left for Madrid this morning and my companion doesn't come until 5. We went with the elders and had all you can eat dominoes. I know it sounds amazing, but it was a bad idea, obviously. I ate like 10 pieces of pizza. And then a gallon of sprite. Im dying right now, but it' okay.

Well sorry i didn't write much, but things here are going really well, and it's really cold here too. Winter has come, and it is supposed to snow sometime in december. Well i love you all very much and i hope that you all have great weeks!

Privyet!

I'm pretty sure that's how you say hello in Russian. Well this week has been really great, and also exceptionally fast,  but that's life right? Well, the quote of the week, "They don't think I know a butload of crap about the gospel, but I DO..."

I really think I out did myself with this one. 

LUNES:

Well we had P-day. We made caramel apples, and they turned out really good. After that, we went and visited our friends Norberto and Nalda. They are super cool, and are really hilarious. So we went by them and had guitar, piano, english classes. It was way fun. After that we shre a thought with them about Jesus Christ, and who he really is. It went over great, and we really felt the spirit. After that, we ran home so that we woulden't be late, which normally isn't a big deal but they live like 1 hour from our piso. Don't worry... We made it. 

MARTES:

Alright. Well we meet with our friend Hortensia every Tuesday morning. We had a really great lesson with her about the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is: Faith, Repentnce, Baptism, Recieving the gift of the holy ghost, and Enduring to the end. PRetty great stuff in there. This was what Jesus Christ, and his Apostles taught when they were on the earth. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is just the same, because it is "RESTORED." I Like to think of it as a car. So say for example your Grandpa bought a brand new Ford Mustang in 1967. It was shiny, and without imperfections. Your grandmother didn't think it was responsible to drive such a fast car so Grandpa puts it in the garage for a long time. Such a long time in fact, that the paint starts to chip off; There are large patches of rust; all of the tires are flat and delfated; the upholstrey is ragged and moth-eaten; The engine is a mess, it coulden't start even if it wanted to. Then one day someone finds the car. They drag it out of the old leaky garage into the sunlight, which the car hasn't seen for a very long time. They take the car to a new garage, and with able hands begin to work on it. Take apart, clean, and refurbish the engine so it's brand new; run new electrical line; patch the rusty spots, and sand it; lay a fresh coat of paint; reupholster the seats and dashboard; and get new rubber for the tires. It is the same car, "RESTORED," to it's perfect state. The state that your grandpa bought it in so long ago. You put the key in the ignition and the engine roars to life. It is the same with the Gospel. Jesus established his gospel and authorized his apostles to teach and preach the world. After his death, and the deaths of his apostles, the peple of the earth wanted to follow him but didn't have the authority nor the guidance to do so. When this happens it is called an apostasy, or a falling away from God and his teachings. So the simple and pure truths of the gospel were changed and molded by the people to suit their desirse. These saving ordinance such as baptism were changed. Thus, when the light of the world, Jesus Christ died, the world was left in darkness. Becuase of his long period without the guidance of prophets or apostles, there arose many churches. Many of them had good, and true things but were not complete. In the year 1820, all of that changed. God clled  prophet once again to the earth to guid his children, ad gave him the authority to perform these sacred ordinances like baptism. This prophet called Jospeh Smith, called 12 apostles and gave them the authority to preach the gospel of The savior once again in it's pure and simple form. The gospel was restored. Faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the holy ghost, and eduring to the end. Good stuff.

MIERCOLES:

So we went to distrcit meeting today, which was fun, and afterwards we visited a pueblo caled "La Baneza" which is about a hour in bus from LEon. It was pretty, and we met lots of great people. I lost my planner on the way back. So as missionaries we have aganda where we plan for every preson that we will go by the night before, and also it has all of the things that we must do that day. I lost mine.. So i got a new one when i got home but i'm still pretty bummed out. But it was a great day and La Baneza has the coolest graffiti that i hav ever seen. It is super fly..

JUEVES:

Well Today was reallly good. We had a bunch of lesson set up, which failed us. It sounds like a bad start but that's just being a missionary. So after that we went to correlacion, Which is a meeting that we have with our mission leader who is a member in the branch or ward who is in charge or oversee's the missionary work. Our mission leader is amazing, he is called Pedro. Well we had a really awesome meeting with him, and talked about of amigos that we are teaching, and also talked about how we can what the big picture of missionary work not only in Leon, but in Spain. It was awesome, and i learned a ton. It is easy to fall into a outine and only think about what you have directly in front of your face, but in this work, and also in life it is important to keep a perspective of what is really important, or what the big picture is. So that was cool, and then after that we met this really cool spanish guy in the street who was really interested. That never happens. Miracles... 

VIERNES:

SO we left early in the morning in a train for madrid! WE had intercambios, which is where you switch companions for a day, and in our case, areas of proselyting. IT was awesome becasue we were in the very center of madrid, which is called Cuatro Caminos.. YOu should look it up, its cool. It was realy fun, and i learned a lot. Man, madrid is big..And super loud and crazy, but cool. 

SABADO:

Well we were still in madrid, and our train left at 11:05. We left and got to the train station at like 11:03 because the other Hermanas that were with us got lost, and it wasn't like we knew where we were. But we made it...barely. When we got back to LEon, we met with maria- dolores, and had  great lesson. So my companion has been in leon for 4 transfers. A transfer is for 6 weeks. So she has been here for almost 6 months which for an 18 month mission, is a considerable chunk. So she will more than likely go to a new areathis next transfer, which is the coming monday. So we told Maria-dolores this and she took it okay but then just started balling..She was telling us how she didn't want tus to leave, and how we had been her guardian angels. She is a little Dramatic, but she really loves us. We really love her, and i can feel the love that the savior has for her when we are there. It was just really sweet, and  have to admit that i cired a little too. It's just nice to feel like you helped someone in the little way that you can. Then we had a big turn out for enlgish class. We had 5 people there. It gets bigger eveytime. Great day. 

DOMINGO:

SO today we had church, which was aweosme as usual. We talked to our president wife, Virginia ad asked her when we could come by and she said that we could go by on Thursday, which normally she just says no.. Progress! We passed by Our friend Lesly who just got back from Norwega. She is doing really good, and we had a stellar lesson with her about repntance, and the restaurcion. She was loving it. Then we went to the familia riveras for dinner and celebrated my companion, and lucy thier daughters birthdays. The bought a giant cake. IT was super cool. We sang like 5 diffrent versions of Feliz cumpleanos, and happy birthday at the same time. 

IT was a great week! I love Spain. I love the people of Spain. I love my Savior. I love my family, In fact I love them and appreciate  them more and more each day I am Here. I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!

Week 4 of transfer 2 in Leon Spain

Alright, this is the theme for the week, and also the movie quote. This should be easier than a corn harvest in Rhode island on the last day in February. So, pretty easy. "You gotta keep on keepin on. Life's a garden, dig it, make it work for you."

Anyone, Anyone?

Okay well, this week has been excellent! We had some great successes, and countless failures, but that's life right? We learned a lot, and put in practice a lot of the things that we learned from last week. SO many of you know that I have a phobia of talking to people on the phone. I despise it. Also I can't really swallow pills. When I get sick, I get the children's medicine so I don't have to take a pill. The lord has helped me overcome these things as I have been on my mission. As a missionary, one of the most important tools that we have is our phone, but it doesn't do any good if you don't use it. This is the same principle with pills. Often times when you are sick or have a headache, you can take a pill and all is well, but again it is no good to you is you do not utilize it. This is my sermon this week, Use the things that the lord gives you to make life easier. Just as the quote says, life truly is a garden, and what do you use to till, and tend your garden (LIFE)? We use the tools of the lord: the scriptures, prayer, fasting, attending church meetings, general conference, a living prophet. All of these are things that we can use to help fill our gardens with life, and nourishment.  Use the things the lord gives you, and do not take them for granted.

P.S. Sorry for going Missionary mode on you there, I'm reading in the New Testament right now and I am just loving the parables. Money.

LUNES:

Okay so after we carved pumpkins, and emailed, we left and started to proselyte. As we were walking, and contacting we were able to contact this really cool, really catholic lady, and a family. I love contacting families because you not sure who to talk to, or look at but The gospel blesses families, and helps parents be better parents, and kids be better kids. We were able to get not only the ladies number, but also the number of the dad from the family! Way cool. After that, we passed by an old investigator from like a 2 years ago. Her name is thalia. So let's start at the beginning. Well teresa is the mom of eduardo. Eduardo is the husband of thalia. They are all from Mexico. So teresa, and eduardo became members in Mexico and then moved here. Thalia was investigating the church for years and years since she was 17, and then married eduardo who was already a member. The whole family was going to church every Sunday. They came to every activity, but then they all of the sudden stopped. So when I first got here, we passed by eduardo a few times, and talked to him, but we didn't try to go in because the previous missionaries had tried talking thalia, and she said that she didn't want anything, and was kind of rude to them. Those missionaries told my companion not to contact her, but then she did and got a cold response. A few days ago, we were going through the phone calling people and i saw her number and called her, and i didn't have any clue about this whole story. She answered and was super nice and we set up an appointment, and then we passed by and she wasn't there. SO this day, we just thought to pass by and she was home and let us in, and we were able to teach her and her kids! IT was crazy... Miracles. We invited her to the Halloween party were having on Friday.

MARTES:

SO today we visited our good friend hortenisa and she is doing really good. Her son mosiah, our friend submitted his papers to serve a mission, and we are awaiting his call, or his assignment on where he will serve. Were pretty stoked to see where he will go. After that, we were walking right outside of hortensia's house when we ran into Nalda! We have visited her a few times in the last few weeks to teach her and her daughters English. Her family are the 7th day Adventists. They are way cool. So we got there, and then she insisted on making us food. She made a bunch of food, and then made us eat all of it. It was crazy. So they are vegans, and don't eat meat, or use animal products so it was like a flash to the past from when my mom did that. It was cool, and her food was super tasty. Then after that, we waddled to Sandra's store, and ran into rocio while we were there. It was cool to see her again. She is the cousin of Sandra's boyfriend nd we met her a few weeks back. SO after that, we ran to the capilla, and had a really great English class with 3 new people that found the flyers we made. I guess people really do look at those. Then after that, instead of having "Noche de jas", we helped our mission leader, Pedro buy and decorate for the upcoming Halloween party, with his kids and Lucy and mosiah. We wen to a chino, and also we bought our costumes for the party. Oh, so today the schedule changed. So normally we wake up at 7:30 and then go to bed at 11:30, but for the winter it is shifted earlier because it's cold, and dark, and no one is outside. So now we wake up at 7:00 and then go to bed at 11:00. SO we had to eave early from decorating. 

MIERCOLES:

Okey dokey.. Well this morning we got a text from mosiah, and then called him and he told us that he got his mission call in the mail. When we had talked to him on Martes he said that it would probably be like 1 or 2 more weeks till he got it. So we were pretty shocked when he called us. So we made plans to go over to his house after district meeting to watch him open it. So we had  great district meeting, and then ate a sandwich, and us and the elders ran to his house and watched him open his call. SO mosiah thought he was going to Malaga, Spain. I said Buenas Aires, Aregentina; or Houston, Texas. SO he opened his call and He is going to Fortaleza, Brazil!!!! HE was shocked. IT was awesome, and then he was reading it about when he was supposed to report and he said july.. And everyone was like, July? Jeez, thats like a really long time to wait. But then he showed us, and his whole call was in spainsh obvouisly except for the date which said January. SO he it leaving in January. SO he made us erase the video and do it again so he could read the date right. I didn't erase it.. SO for the next video we all faked it. IT was awesome. After that, we went and finished mostly decorating the capilla for the party. Then we had a great lesson with this guy named carlos. He was investigating the church for years, and had read the book of Mormon twice. So just for reference we met him contacting like 3 weeks ago, and found this out when we met with him. He was going to church every Sunday, but then his mom got sick, and he lost his dad, and stopped coming and ended up losing contact with the missionaries for 3 years, and we just happened to find him. He is like the most golden amigo ever. It's amazing. Then we met with Maria Dolores, and she it still doing good. Still sick and old, but reading every night from the Book of Mormon, and wants to learn more. Oh man, sh gave us this sugar bred thing. It was soooooo good. 

JUEVES:

SO Today we made the chili for the Halloween party. It was pretty awesome. The elders said that they are bringing Funeral potatoes, so I am pretty stoked for that. After that, we went by and visited Cordula. She is the mom of Jose Antonio, who is one of our members. She is like 88, but is a hoot! She was making the best jokes, and they had those butter cookies in the tin. So they put those out for us and forced us to eat them. I ate like 20, no joke. Then after that we were contacting in the street and met this girl from Georgia, and we chatting her up in English, which was weird. She was super cool, and is teaching English here I guess, but she doesn't speak Spanish. IT was cool. 

VIERNES:

SO the first person that we visited today was Sandra. She it the lady with the stores. SO we passed by and out of nowhere invited us to have lunch with her in her apartment. We have been praying and fasting to meet with her outside her store. She is super sweet and really wants to believe that things that we tell her about to Gospel are true, bu it is kind of hard to have a lesson when people walk into her store all the time. SO we finally were able to meet with her. It was awesome. Then we had an appointment with our member friend Nina, from Brazil. She lives in San Andreas, which is outside of LEon, so by the time we left Sandras we had missed to first bus to San Andreas. SO we ran to the ATM to pull out cash for the us because you can't use a card, and the ATM wouldn't work with our cards, so then me missed the other bus, so then we ended up walking to her house, which takes about an hour and a half, power walking. SO we basically ran there, and then after our lesson, Pedro our ML had to drive and pick us up for the Halloween party. The party was awesome! We had about 65 people there, and like 20 of them were not members. Thalia and her kids came, and maribel and her family came too! It was really a success. So there was also a competition of food, like the dish of your country, and i made chili. We won with the chili! I couldn't believe it. Then we taught a dance,and had a costume comp, and played some games, and ate some candy. I was a dead person for Halloween. Like always. 

SABADO:

SO today we went and cleaned to capilla from the party last night. It was destroyed. So this weekend is the District conference, which is like Stake conference only smaller. So president pack came down, and we had interviews with him. Then we walked around and called a bunch of people, and set up lots of appointments for next week. Afterwards we had English class. SO there is this super cute lady who comes to English class every Martes, and this time she brought us cream puffs that she made. They were seriously amazing. After that we contacted and received 5 numbers. A new record for one night!!! 

DOMINGO:

Well We had district conference at the hotel san marcos. IT was awesome. Look it up, it is really pretty, and old. So we had the opportunity of hearing from Elder pilz, of the 70. IT was awesome, because he is from Germany and has a great accent, but he only speaks German and English, so he spoke in English, and had a translator to translate it into spanish. Then we heard president pack speak as well. We had  good lesson with Maria Dolores, and she made us some little fried cheese croquet's. The were a touch unhealthy but, no biggy. Then we shared with the family Rivera about how we came make our homes like the temple. They really liked it. Well it has been a great week.
