Transfer 9 Week 3
Gran Canaria
Hermana Storheim

Hello!

This week has been really good. I know that I always say that but it's almost always the truth. To be honest, I think that the most stressful time of my week is always trying to remember all of the stuff that we did to tell y'all. I should really be better about remembering, but bad memory runs in the fam.

Okay so 2 weeks ago we found this awesome family thru some members. The moms name is mariza and her husband is Javier. They have 2 little girls 10 and 4. They are awesome. So we have been teaching the mom and daughters because the dad works interna, which means he lives in someone's house and takes care of them. So he is only at home on Saturdays and Sundays mornings.  So we have been teaching them and the mom really wants to get baptized and knew that the church was true from the very first moment. She loved the Jose Smith story and as we were telling her it the spirit truly spoke to her heart that it was true. Awesome right! So then she told us that she felt bad because she wanted to follow god and do all that he wanted her to do but she was living with her husband, without being married. So we were like, " well what's stopping you from getting married?"  She is like, "Nothing." So we invited her to talk with her husband, so that they can get married and then get baptized. She is so pumped. So then we have taught her a few other times, but she told us that she is going on vacation for 2 and 1/2 weeks to the south of the island, and she is going to talk to their husband then about all of the baptism, marriage thing. So we won't be able to meet with her until September, but in September we will be able to meet with the whole family and teach all of them which is way better! So I see white with them.

Then we are just teaching lots on new people. The thing with missionary work though is that we can't just find new people, but we have to work with less active memebrs, and with active members. So this next week is to really find a good balance between all of it so that we can find our stride I guess.

Then we had district meeting. It was cash money like always. We talked a lot about a talk called following Christ to victory. You should all read it because it's awesome!

Just a few things that I really liked from it:

Then, in my estimation, the Master’s great success formula for bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man is

First, believe you can do it. The Master said, For this cause came I into the world: “to give his life [as] a ransom for many” (Matt. 20:28).

Second, look to the Lord for your blessings. Again, the Master said, “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was” (John 17:5).

Third, make the sacrifice. The Lord’s words: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11).

Fourth, expect a miracle. The Lord said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live” (John 5:25).

And fifth, receive the miracle with great humility. “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do” (John 5:19). And “Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me” (John 7:16).

We have tried to out the formula into practice and man, does it work. I feel like I have been doing it my whole mission I just whenever realized that it was a "formula."  Did you like how I said that you should read it and then I put it in here. Hahaha, no choice...

Oh man, I totally spaced, but we had intercambios with the viciendario hermanas. I was with hermana liddicott who is from England! We tore up viciendario, and taught a ton of people. I had so much fun and learned a a lot. She is truly an amazing teacher. One day. One day...

Also this week has been one filled with service! We helped this lady in our ward named loida move her stuff from her Piso. And let me tell ya, she had a ton of stuff. I have never been so sweaty before in my life! Then we went back and painted and clean a few days later. That was fun, and I ruined my favorite shorts. But I'm probably still gonna wear them like that. Then we taught the noche de hogar on Thursday. We bought some masking tape and made a big V shape on the ground. Then we challenged everybody to try to walk keeping both feet on both of the lines. No one could do it but I definitely got some funny videos of them trying. I think there was only one pair of split pants so... Success! We talked about how we can't follow two roads, so to speak. We must choose one or the other. But when we choose wrong, because of Jesus Christ we can REPENT and turn around and walk back. We can have a fresh start; A clean slate. It was cool. Then we played a very heated game of signs. I totally never had to be in the middle, so... ya know. Well we set up lots of good lessons for this next week. Man it's crazy! I got what is called in mission lingo, "The death letter." Which mean that I will be going home in 5 months or 3 transfers. I just feel like the time is passing so quickly and no matter how much I try to slow it down, it just keeps speeding up. I have officially been out for 13 months. Crae crae! And whats worse is that August just started and now it's on the down hill slope, and then it will be next transfer and I will only have 2 transfers left. Oh my goodness. Well I just want to let y'all know that I love you tons and that I really appreciate all that you do for me! I hope that you all have a great week, and that you stay safe. Okay?
